Former Watford manager Walter Mazzarri could be offered a route back into football by Genoa.
Current boss Ivan Juric is under increasing pressure with his side fifth bottom of Serie A having taken just one point from their opening three games.
According to La Repubblica, he is already facing the sack and Mazzarri is on their list of potential replacements.
The Italian signed a three-year deal with Watford in May 2016 but the deal was terminated after just one season at the club.
Now the experienced manager could get another chance in Italy having spent 13 years managing there before his move to Watford.
It has been suggested that former Swansea manager Francesco Guidolin and Massimo Oddo are also considered viable options should they sack Juric.
