Call us old romantics but watching the Italian shot-stopper end his career by lifting the World Cup would be a wonderful moment for a much-loved man. The Azzurri superstar is a hero for many and would be playing at a record sixth World Cup if he did reach the tournament in Russia. You can listen to Italy v Sweden in the World Cup play-off second leg live on talkSPORT2, on Monday, November 13 from 19:45.

It’s make or break for the Azzurri tonight as they go into the pivotal qualifier 1-0 down against the Swedes.

Jakob Johansson’s second half strike was enough to give their opponents a win at the Friends Arena in Stockholm and they will be defending their lead for their lives as qualification creeps tantalisingly closer at the San Siro.

It promises to be a superb match and there will be plenty of neutrals supporting a star-filled Italy squad, hoping they don’t fail to qualify for a World Cup for the first time since 1958.

But why do we want Italy to qualify? Click the right arrow above to find out…
